July 6, 2026 — Families across Nevada now have the opportunity to support their young learners through Waterford Upstart, a no‑cost, at-home early learning program that helps children build strong reading, math, and science skills before they enter kindergarten.
Waterford.org, a national early education nonprofit, provides families with flexible, research‑based resources to strengthen early learning and support school readiness. Through support from the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and philanthropic partners, participating families receive access to adaptive online instruction and one‑on‑one guidance from a dedicated family coach. Eligible families may also receive a device and internet access to support participation.
“Every child deserves the chance to start school with confidence,” said Dr. Matt Hill, CEO of Waterford.org. “Waterford Upstart gives families simple, meaningful tools they can use at home to help their children build essential early learning skills.”
Local partners are also seeing the impact of the program. “Parents are busy, and they need tools that fit into real life,” said Diana Varillas, Family Services Coordinator of Clark County Acelero Learning Head Start and Early Head Start. “Waterford Upstart gives families a simple routine they can rely on, and we see how much confidence it builds in both children and caregivers.”
Waterford Upstart is designed for ease and consistency at home, requiring just 15 minutes a day, five days a week. Lessons adapt to each child’s progress, offering a personalized learning experience that keeps young learners engaged and growing. Families see the results: on average, 89% of children advance a full year or more beyond expected growth, and 97% of families recommend Waterford Upstart.
