CARSON CITY, Nev. — September 21, 2026 — The Office of Governor Joe Lombardo, Pershing County School District, and Waterford.org announced a new partnership to expand access to Waterford Early Learning, bringing personalized reading, math, and science instruction to K–2 students at Lovelock Elementary School and Imlay Elementary School.
Driven by a shared commitment to Nevada’s youngest learners, Waterford.org and the Governor’s Office spent the last year exploring opportunities to expand early learning access and improve educational outcomes statewide. Those efforts led to the selection of Pershing County School District as the launch site for expanded access to Waterford Early Learning, reflecting the district’s strong leadership in early literacy and school readiness.
“Strengthening early literacy is one of the most important steps we can take to improve long‑term success in and out of the classroom,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “This partnership reflects our focus on giving Nevada students the tools they need to build strong foundations and thrive in their studies.”
Through this initiative, students in grades K–2 will receive daily access to Waterford Early Learning’s adaptive instruction, which supports foundational reading skills, numeracy, and science concepts. Teachers will also have access to real-time student progress data, enabling them to tailor instruction, address learning gaps, and support every child’s academic growth.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to high-quality early learning opportunities and strengthening outcomes.

The program will launch in Pershing County classrooms this school year, with ongoing support from Waterford.org to ensure smooth implementation and sustained impact. It also complements the Nevada Department of Human Services–funded home‑based Waterford Upstart program, which is currently enrolling eligible families across the state for the year before children enter kindergarten.
