SALT LAKE CITY, UT – October 28, 2024 – Waterford.org, an early education nonprofit, is pleased to announce Chris Lee as a new member of its Board of Trustees. Lee is the Head of Immersive Technologies at Amazon Web Services (AWS).

With a background in game technology, rendering, geospatial technologies, spatial computing, and cloud services, Lee brings a wealth of experience in the tech world and a passion for making a difference.

“It’s an exciting mission to help children get prepared for school, which in turn prepares them for life,” Lee said.

Lee, a father of two, said he saw first-hand the importance of kindergarten readiness when his oldest daughter was preparing for school. COVID-19 pandemic closures prevented his daughter from being in a classroom, so his family relied on tutoring to teach reading and other skills. Lee said Waterford.org provides learning programs for children who otherwise might not have them.

“Not every child has that opportunity, so it’s important to help as many children as possible in ways that are engaging,” he said. “That can be a very powerful tool.”

Dr. Matt Hill, CEO of Waterford.org, said having Lee on the Board of Trustees will further the impact of the work they’re currently doing to help children.

“We are excited that Chris is bringing his extensive experience, expertise, and passion to the Board.” Hill said. “Chris will help Waterford.org continue to be a leader in providing PreK-2nd grade reading, math, and science programs.”

Giving back is important to Lee, who has also been involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for 8 years. He said being on the Board of Trustees for Waterford.org is another way to improve a child’s life in the early years, setting a foundation for future success.

“This is giving back in a way with real impact,” Lee said. “We can help many children have a great start to their lives.”

Waterford.org is a national early education nonprofit that provides research-backed PreK through 2nd grade reading, math, and science programs that children can use wherever they learn. Our tailored programs help children reach critical milestones by third grade, laying the foundation for future success for every child.
