April 7, 2025—The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has officially approved a new high-quality early learning program for young learners across the state. Waterford Early Learning, a proven, high-quality early education resource offered by Waterford.org, is approved for English Language Arts (ELA).
This designation marks a significant milestone in Waterford.org’s efforts to ensure every child, regardless of background or location, has access to high-quality educational resources. The materials will be available to Ohio districts and community schools, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding their ELA curriculum.
“The addition of Waterford Early Learning to Ohio’s approved list is another step forward for our state’s commitment to ensuring every child has access to the very best in early education,” said Rep. Thomas Hall, R-46th District. “Ohio has long set high standards to ensure all children succeed, and with Waterford’s proven effectiveness, we are providing our youngest learners with a tool that will support their foundational skills and prepare them for future academic achievement.”
Waterford Early Learning programs help young children build foundational literacy skills such as letter recognition, phonics, vocabulary development, and early reading comprehension. These essential skills are key to ensuring that children are prepared for their educational journey.
