Helping Students in Wichita Falls, Texas Build a Strong Educational Foundation

Waterford is proud of its ongoing partnership with Wichita Falls Independent School District (WFISD) in northern Texas. Early in 2018, the district began implementing the kindergarten readiness program, Waterford UPSTART, to help children learn essential reading skills before they ever enter public school to ensure every child has a fair start.

The district also uses Waterford Early Learning in their elementary schools to build on literacy skills gained from Waterford UPSTART. Leading the efforts in Wichita Falls are Superintendent Michael Kuhrt and Dr. Travis Armstrong, Director of Early Learning in the district.

In 2018, Superintendent Kuhrt was named the Tech-Savvy Superintendent of the Year by the Texas K-12 Chief Technology Officers Council. Earlier this year, Dr. Armstrong was appointed by the governor of Texas to serve on the Texas Early Learning Council. Together with the help of families and educators, they’re working to provide children a strong educational foundation.

This video highlights how WFISD leaders successfully implemented Waterford’s early education programs into the district’s schools and homes. We look forward to continuing working alongside WFISD to help as many children as possible succeed in their education.
