Taylorsville, UT, June 4, 2025 – Families, mentors, and community partners gathered in Taylorsville for a joyful, kid-friendly event celebrating a new partnership between Waterford.org and Friends of the Children–Utah. Held on May 28, the event marked the launch of a summer learning initiative designed to help children stay engaged and prepared for the upcoming school year.

This event marked the launch of an exciting new program aimed at preventing summer learning loss. The pilot combines Waterford.org’s personalized early learning tools with Friends of the Children–Utah’s proven long-term mentorship model, giving children and families year-round support for both academic and personal growth.

The celebration was filled with laughter, hands-on activities, and unforgettable visits from Waterford characters Rusty and Rosy, who delighted children and brought the program’s mission to life in a fun, relatable way. With colorful crafts, games, and time to connect, families had the chance to experience firsthand how learning can be both impactful and enjoyable.

The event also welcomed partners from across the community, including Help Me Grow Utah, Health Choice Utah, and Girl Scouts of Utah.

“This was more than a celebration—it was a reminder of what’s possible when we work together to give every child a strong start and consistent support,” said Kim Fischer, VP of Marketing and Communications at Waterford.org. “Seeing children light up as they played and learned alongside their mentors and families was a clear sign of the power of community and collaboration.”

“We’re standing beside our youth not just today, but every day — kindergarten through high school graduation—with connection and belonging to help them grow with confidence,” said Kelsey Lewis, Executive Director of Friends of the Children–Utah. “This partnership shows how we can uplift kids and families by combining academic and emotional support.”

By combining early learning and long-term mentorship, the partnership between Waterford.org and Friends of the Children–Utah is creating stronger foundations for children and families across the community. The celebration—made possible with support from the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs—highlighted the power of connection, collaboration, and a shared commitment to helping every child start strong and stay supported.
