This multi-state randomized controlled trial found that UPSTART reading students achieved significantly higher literacy scores than control peers. Students had stronger outcomes in reading comprehension, phonological processing, and letter and word recognition, with meaningful effect sizes. UPSTART math and science students demonstrated significantly higher math outcomes than reading peers.
