September is Attendance Awareness Month, and as we shared earlier this month, it’s a timely topic given that absences can add up quickly at the start of the school year, putting students on a path toward academic trouble.
It’s also an especially important topic for early learners: According to the organization Attendance Works, many of our youngest students miss 10 percent of school a year, and chronic absenteeism in kindergarten and preK can predict academic issues in later years.
