We are the Romanian branch of Waterford.org, a recognized leader in the educational software
market. We are a team of more than 45 software professionals, developing, using the Agile
methodology, our own products – web-based programs, helping children to learn English, Math
and Science in a fun and adaptive manner.

Waterford.org is an education nonprofit with a mission to achieve universal literacy for children
through equity, access, and parent empowerment.
Waterford creates programs that empower parents and caregivers as a child’s first teacher at
home and supports teachers in the classroom.
Currently, Waterford.org serves over 300,000 children across 43 states every year.

Our Job Proposal

We are looking for a Backend Software Developer to join our growing engineering team and help build our next generation platform for educational services. The ideal candidate is a passionate developer that likes working with the latest technologies and enjoys keeping up to date with technology advances.

Required Skills

  • Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle
  • Work as part of a team, communicate effectively with team members, and contribute to project planning and review meetings.
  • Translate requirements into clean and efficient code.
  • Participate in optimization processes to ensure the services run efficiently across different devices and platforms.
  • Support the maintenance of functionalities post-release, including troubleshooting and implementing updates.

Qualification

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Software Developer
  • Experience in at least one of the following : Java, Spring-Boot, Amazon Web Services, Node.js, Javascript/ TypeScript
  • Experience working with database systems, both SQL and NoSQL
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently
  • Strong self-motivation
  • Excellent work ethic, dependable and responsible
  • We work on our own products.
  • Critical thinker, with good logical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience with microservices architectures is a plus
