Welcome to Waterford Community Center’s 2011-2012 year. We look forward to this year full of fun and discovery.
Waterford Community Center serves 200 plus students. Enrollment for the Waterford Community Center is based on first-come-first-serve. To make sure your child gets a spot in the class, pre-register your child today.
2011–2012 Year
This year Waterford Institute, through the Community Center, is conducting a study in math and science to compare with a previous study. To help complete this study, the Community Center will require 1,100 minutes minimum of math on the computer. Because the 1,100 minutes will take 55 sessions to complete, class will begin August 1 and 2, 2011 and end April 25 and 26, 2012.
Attendance
Please commit to attend class through the end of April 2012.
Makeup Days
There will be no makeup days this year. With perfect attendance, the 55 sessions will be completed by March 19 and 20, 2012 leaving seven bonus sessions. The calendar has ample vacation days. Please refer to the calendar.
Orientation
About Orientation and Skills Placement
Your attendance at Placement is extremely important and takes about 45 minutes. If your child has never worked on a computer before, he will be shown how to use the mouse and navigate within the software.
If your child is a return student please disregard Orientation and Skills Placement. It is not necessary because your child will simply continue on.

Placement is a series of assessments presented in game format to determine where your child should be placed in the software according to skill level. You will receive notification for this very important event.

Your child will attend Community Center class two times a week on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. For the purpose of the math and science study, no child will be allowed to attend more than two times a week.

Class Length

Class Format
Class will begin with 10 minutes of circle time focused on phonemic awareness, followed by 20 minutes of math and science, and finished up with 20 minutes in reading.
