Scope of Skills Assessed
WACS assesses more reading sub-skills than most current reading assessments. Administered sub-skills within WACS are determined by each student’s performance in preceding sub-skills. Students start with assessment questions at their expected level and move to easier or more difficult assessment questions depending on performance.
Computer-adaptive sequencing in WACS individualize the assessment questions while quickly diagnosing each student’s needs in the following skill areas:
- Phonological Awareness
- Initial Sound
- Blending
- Segmenting
- Phonics
- Letter Recognition
- Letter Sound
- Sight Words
- Real Words
- Nonwords
- Vocabulary
- Listening Comprehension
- Reading Comprehension
