1. What is Camp Consonant?
Camp Consonant™ is a multisensory teaching method that utilizes kinesthetic elements in direct, systematic, explicit, and repetitive instruction to help children who learn differently become fluent readers. Starting with the alphabetic principles, the lessons provide instruction in

2. Who is Camp Consonant for?
Camp Consonant is designed for students in preschool through third grade who learn differently than other students. Camp Consonant provides them with a different learning approach that allows them to become successful, fluent readers.
3. How will Camp Consonant help my child or student?
Camp Consonant’s approach to reading instruction gives your child or student the opportunity to excel in reading. Not all children learn the same. By utilizing explicit and systematic instruction in the core skills needed to become a fluent reader, Camp Consonant allows children who learn differently to succeed.

5. How do I purchase Camp Consonant for my child or student?
To purchase Camp Consonant for your child or student, contact User Support at 1-877-299-7997.
6. How do I contact User Support?
User Support is available to answer your questions via live chat and e-mail.
To contact User Support by live chat or e-mail, click the Support tab on the Waterford Institute website and select Live Chat from the drop-down menu. In the page that opens, select the Live Chat tab to chat or the Contact tab to e-mail.
To report a problem, click the Support tab on the Waterford Institute website and select Report a Problem from the drop-down menu.
7. What do I do if I get a message saying my username and/or password is invalid?
There are multiple possible reasons why you are receiving this message. Refer to the list below for different ways to troubleshoot the problem.
- Make sure you are entering your username and password correctly.
- Make sure the Caps Lock function on your keyboard is not activated. Passwords are case sensitive.
- If this is your first time logging in, your password is “changeme”. If you have used this website before, your password will remain the same.
- If this is your first time logging in, your username will be your first and last name without any spaces or punctuation. Your username may be suffixed with a number if you have a common name.

8. What do I do if I cannot remember my username and/or password?
If you supplied an e-mail address in your profile (a tutor may have done this for you), you may use the Forgot Username or Password feature to retrieve your login information. To use this feature, follow the directions below.
- On the login screen, below the login fields, click Forgot Username or Password.
- Enter your first name, last name, and the e-mail address that is registered to your account in the fields provided.
- An e-mail is sent to the e-mail address you provided with a link to reset your password.
- Click the link.
- Reset your password.
- An e-mail is sent to the e-mail address you provided with your username and new password.
If you do not have an e-mail address tied to your account, or you are still having trouble logging in, please contact User Support.
9. How do I enable JavaScript?
JavaScript must be enabled for the website to function correctly. To enable JavaScript, follow the directions below.
For Internet Explorer:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- In the Internet Options dialogue box, select the Security tab.
- Click Custom Level at the bottom. The Security Settings dialog box will pop up.
- Under the Scripting category, enable Active Scripting and Scripting of Java applets.
- Click OK twice to close out.
For Firefox:
- Open Firefox.
- Select Options from the Tools menu.
- Click the Web Features icon.
- Click the box next to Enable Javascript.
- Click OK.
10. What do I do if I go to the website and see a blank page?
If you see only a blank page, it may be because your browser does not support JavaScript. Installing the most recent version of Internet Explorer or Firefox will allow you to use JavaScript.
It is also possible that your firewall is blocking the automatic installation of the Flash player. Download the latest version of the Flash player manually from here.
11. What do I do if I cannot click the Start arrow after I log in to the website?
If you cannot click the Start arrow immediately upon entering the program, you may not have cookies enabled. Cookies must be enabled in order to use the website. To enable cookies, follow the directions below.
Firefox 3.x
- In the Tools menu, select Options.
- Select the Privacy icon on the left panel.
- Check the box next to Allow sites to set cookies.
- Click OK.
Internet Explorer 6.0, 7.0, 8.0:
- In the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
- Click the Privacy tab.
- Under Settings, click the Default button (or manually slide the bar down to Medium).
- Click OK.
12. Why does the green arrow button not work while I am reading a story?
The green arrow stays grayed out (disabled) until the end of each activity. For each of the reading passages, the green arrow is only enabled after a matter of seconds equivalent to the length of the passage that has passed. This helps ensure that the child spends at least a little bit of time reading the passage rather than just clicking through the activities.
