Responsibilities

• Strategy & Planning
• Assist in developing long-term strategy around development of a master database prototype for photographs and documents, both electronic and handwritten.
• Become an expert in photo and document imaging. Thoroughly understand all aspects of photo storage accessibility and printing, including expertise in Lightroom, Photoshop and related Adobe software, and handling of advanced color printers.
• Liaise with appropriate stakeholders within School and Institute to ensure full compatibility, accessibility, and functionality of the database.
• Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations.
• Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance.
• Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future computer hardware needs.

Acquisition & Deployment

• Conduct research on desktop products in support of PC procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend products for purchase.

• Recommend, schedule, and perform PC, hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs.

Operational Management

• Maintain the office computers for the Chairman of the Waterford Institute.
• Perform onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users as needed.
• Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop service levels.
• Assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to PC boxes, including the installation of CPUs, I/O and NIC cards, hard disks, ribbon cables, hard drives, RAM, memory chips, CD-ROMs, and so on.
• Collaborate with LAN technicians/network administrators to ensure efficient operation of the company’s desktop computing environment.
• Where required, administer and resolve issues with associated end-user workstation networking software products.
• Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding desktop problems.
• Answer to and perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) requests as they are submitted by line managers.
• Ensure that physical desktop connections (i.e. RJ-45 Ethernet jacks, RJ-11 telephone modem jacks, connectors between PCs and servers, etc.) are in proper working order.
• Prepare tests and applications for monitoring desktop performance, then provide performance statistics and reports.
• Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.
• Maintain an asset inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, network cards, and other components and equipment.
• Accurately document instances of desktop equipment or component failure, repair, installation, and removal.
• If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.

Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or two years equivalent work experience.
• Certifications in A+, Network+ and/or MS Desktop operating system preferred

The System Administrator’s role is to manage and tune in-house computer software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
 
This individual will assist project teams with technical issues throughout all phases of Project Management. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development to production by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle.

This individual is accountable for the following systems: Linux, Windows and Mac OS systems that support Waterford infrastructure; Waterford Asset Management; Backup and restore infrastructure; company web sites; Desktop Support and Maintenance, etc. Responsibilities on these systems include SA engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation.
 
Good organizational and logical thinking skills are required, for setting up, diagnosing and solving problems with existing systems. System administrators must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines when required. Because they may have to work with users who have little or no technical knowledge, they must be able to communicate complex and unfamiliar ideas easily.

As Product Manager, you will guide a team that is charged with a product line contribution as a business unit. The Database Administrator’s role is to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.

The primary function for this position is to be a technologist who is very experienced with deploying software applications in a variety of customer configurations, network topologies and operating systems. The candidate should have great communication skills along with a strong technology background. The position manages the systems and field engineers.  One of the main functions for this job is to be a liaison for many teams, from our strategic business partners, field and support personnel to product management and development. The position is responsible for tier 3 technical support within Waterford as well as for third parties.  The candidate should have a proven ability to not only solve complex issues, but also to teach what they have learned; mentoring junior engineers is a critical factor for this responsibility.  Further, it is expected that the person in this position will ensure that appropriate documentation is developed and maintained related to various combinations of hardware, OS, Database and our software so that all technical personnel can easily learn about and be ready to deal with those areas when questions arise. It is expected that this candidate stays on top of technology enhancements and is always looking to the future for ways to enhance our product offerings. The candidate also needs a good knowledge of quality software practices; the engineering function serves as the final checkpoint before delivering products to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Represent Systems Engineering in Product meetings

The job will provide technical leadership for a team of test engineers responsible for delivering robust test automaton. This involves design and development of core infrastructure as well as driving standards for development of tests across all QA. This individual will work closely with development and manual QA to coordinate automated testing, QA system-level testing efforts, and to improve the overall testability of the product. This job will also help drive the test automation agenda forward within the organization and across the company.

Responsibilities

• Write automated scripts using the following Jmeter, Fitnesse, Selinum, Mercury LoadRunner
• Review Requirements Document at the start of each project.
• Review past history of related projects.
• Document all defects in Bug Tracking System
• Verify that all submitted bugs are fixed as new test software is deployed.
• Regularly report to the Test Lead the progress in writing the test scripts and the testing including the number and seriousness of problems found.
• Record test progress in the Test Matrix and store those results in a common location.
• Work with QA Team and QA Lead in understanding the project by utilizing the test plan and the manual test cases in order to script or write a new test application
• Review Engineering spec’s
• Review code
• Help setup automation coding strategy including storage and maintainability.  This includes modular coding practices and version control.
