Keyboarding to Read and Write teaches students to keyboard by touch. Students enter the program as Junior Reporters at a bustling newspaper office, where the staff teaches them to keyboard and to use basic word processing tricks of the trade.

Time spent learning to keyboard is time spent learning to read.

"Students who type or keyboard outperform—sometimes dramatically—their non-typing counterparts in reading, reading comprehension, writing, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and language" (Cothran & Mason, 1978).
