Level Two builds on the foundation provided in Level One, by reinforcing phonological awareness skills and letter recognition in daily 30-minute sessions. Further instruction is provided in the following key areas:

  • Learning letter sounds
  • Blending sounds to read word patterns
  • Recognizing sight words
  • Reading simple stories (combining decoding skills with print awareness skills learned in Level One)
  • Understanding comprehension strategies
  • Learning language conventions

Students progress from emergent readers to beginning readers through a carefully designed, systematic sequence of activities.
